In the spotlight: Rebecca Brochu

BLURB:
Understaffed, overworked and generally exhausted contractor Ricci DeAngelo still has to contend with a long subway ride at the end of each day.  The last thing he expects is to fall head long into a relationship while dozing on the train.  But that’s exactly what happens when a sexy and equally exhausted stranger falls asleep on his shoulder one night.

Ricci’s nap partner ends up being Layton Callis, an equally overworked pâtissier who looks and smells good enough to eat.  When they unexpectedly fall into a routine of napping together on the late train Ricci finds himself in a unique position.  He can continue only seeing Layton during the week and spending his weekends in a sleepless mess.  Or Ricci can step up and see if he can get Layton to agree to wake up next to him on a more permanent basis.

EXCERPT:
“I’m going to kiss you now.”  Ricci blurted it out and watched Layton’s eyes go wide and then soft and hot. He reached out and put the empty mug on the bedside table beside Layton’s.

“If that’s how you react to coffee, I’m definitely going to have to cook breakfast…”  Layton’s teasing was drowned out as Ricci pushed forward and kissed him.

It started slow, just like the kiss from the night before.  Ricci teased the seam of Layton’s lips with his tongue, licked at the corners of his mouth leisurely for a moment before he swept inside.  He chased the taste of coffee around Layton’s mouth, learned the curve of his teeth and the wet, hot strength of his tongue all over again.  It was good, better than any kiss Ricci could remember at the moment.  It only improved when Layton pressed closer until Ricci was forced to lean back completely against the headboard so Layton could crawl forward onto his lap.

They broke the kiss slowly and stayed where they were for a moment, faces pressed close as they both panted for air.  Layton moved first. He slid his hands up the wide expanse of Ricci’s chest and then down over the curve of his shoulders as he ducked his head so he could place nipping kisses on the base of Ricci’s neck.

Ricci groaned and tipped his head back to give Layton better access while he clenched one hand in the sheet beside him and trailed the tips of the fingers on his other hand down Layton’s bare back until he could palm the curve of his ass.

Layton whined, a sweet high-pitched sound, when Ricci squeezed his ass lightly and then he set his teeth to Ricci’s skin harder in response.

Ricci bucked his hips upwards as he hissed at the sting.  They both groaned low and long when the rapidly hardening jut of his cock pressed against Layton’s through the thin fabric of their sleep pants.

“You said I could touch you.”  Ricci’s pulled Layton closer to him with the hand on his ass and finally untangled his other from where it had begun to claw at his bed sheets.  “I really hope you meant it.”

“I meant it.”  Layton’s words were broken by the way he panted against the curve of Ricci’s neck.  “I definitely meant it.”

Mid Week Tease: Misunderstandings

Thank you so much, Sandra Bunino, for hosting this event every week!

Welcome to my Mid Week Tease, and this week I'm going to share with you an excerpt from my newest release, Misunderstandings, from JMS Books. It's a M/M contemporary romance, and here is the blurb:

Being insecure isn’t good for Parker Williams’ image as an indie movie actor, but he can’t help it. He seems to forget that he snatched an Oscar from the one hit movie he made, and he keeps comparing himself with the success of his boyfriend Declan, who is a blockbuster star. Things get worse when Parker sees how close Declan is to his sexy costar, Ryan Dexter.

Parker thinks he’s no match for Ryan and leaves without confronting Declan. When he disappears, a worried Declan tries to contact him without result. Then he finds Parker’s cell phone, left behind at the house, and Declan doesn’t know what to do. Should he let Parker go and turn to Ryan for comfort? Is his relationship with Ryan only onscreen, or is there something more between the two leading men? Or is Parker really the star of Declan's heart?

Excerpt:

Parker carefully positioned the box in the middle of the bed as if it were some kind of a precious treasure. Stepping back, tipping his head sideways, he gazed contemplatively at the box.

He had no clue as to what had made him think of buying this box of chocolates. At that moment Parker thought it would be a great idea to send it to Declan.

But now he wasn't so certain anymore.

What would be the meaning of the gift? How would Declan feel, receiving this? What would he think when he had it in his hands?

Sitting down on the bed, gaze on the deluxe pack with images of luscious-looking chocolates on it, Parker was bickering with himself. He wasn’t the one who should apologize (that was the message behind this gift, wasn’t it?). Declan was the one who cheated. Thus, he had to make the first move.

Yet, his heart reminded Parker that he’d turned away from Declan without giving him a chance to talk. Ryan coming to Declan’s house that night might not have meant anything. Parker shouldn’t not have fretted about the zealous way Ryan greeted Declan. Ryan had always been like that, hadn’t he?

The point wasn't who should ask for an apology. He who humbles himself before others, would emerge a noble man, was that not what the proverb said?

Parker drew out a blank card and a pen he'd bought from the hotel's souvenir shop. All right, so he would send the chocolates after all. The only question remaining was what he should write in the card. What did he actually want to say to Declan?

Would that be ...

I miss you. No. What if Declan never even thought twice about Parker’s leaving and had forgotten that he existed?

How about ...

I trust you.

No ... Parker just couldn’t write it. There were so many questions he wanted Declan to answer. It saddened Parker, though, to think that he couldn’t give his absolute trust to his lover.

I’m sorry.

Parker still thought he might’ve made a mistake leaving Declan like that. But -- he wasn’t the one cheating. He could never cheat on his boyfriend. He loved Declan too much. So ...

I love you. Yes. Parker was simply expressing his feelings and Declan was under no obligation to love him back. But would that statement sound like a pathetic plea?

Parker sighed dejectedly. Perhaps he should simply abandon this idea altogether. If only Declan would call him. Had Declan really thought things settled between them?

“Panther Ridge” by Jessica Jayne

Panther Ridge Blurb:

Nathan Thorne is many things. Confident. Proud. Strong. Ruggedly good-looking. And a firefighter. But what really makes him different from most men is that he’s part animal… literally…he shifts into a Florida panther. Nate has spent most of his life a loner, finding satisfaction in random women and roaming his one hundred fifty acres of Florida flatlands in Panther Ridge that his mother left him. He was content. But when Ciara Black enters Nate’s favorite hangout he doesn’t know what hit him. She’s everything he’s ever desired and he knows without a doubt that she’s his mate.
Ciara is on the run trying to escape her father and step-brother’s attempts to steal her Momma’s money. Life is hard and full of disappointments until she meets Nate Thorne. He turns her inside out with just a few words and a smile.
When someone threatens Ciara, Nate can’t do anything but protect what’s his. Can Ciara love him and the animal within?

Excerpt:
“What brought you to town, Ciara?” Nate asked. His gaze wandered over her face. Her nose dipped just slightly giving her a delicate look. Her lips were full and pouty, perfect for wrapping around his cock. Fuck! I need to get my head on straight. It hasn’t been that long since I’ve been laid. But it had been that long since he’d wanted so desperately to be laid by a particular female. In fact, this may have been the only time he could remember feeling only one female could bring him the release he needed, and that female was her. Every ounce of him, body and soul, told him Ciara was his mate.
“A change,” she said, softly, finally looking away from him.
“A change from what?” he pushed.
“A change from my family,” she said, opening the cooler and apparently checking the stock.
“What’s wrong with your family?” Nate asked. “Jack’s a great guy.” Shutting the cooler door, she turned to face him. Placing her hands on the counter, she leaned in closer to him. Her scent enveloped him and he had to bite his lower lip to keep from growling.
“Uncle Jack’s not the problem. He’s the reason I stayed in Florida. Otherwise, I’d have headed out west to get clear of my money-grubbing father and stepbrother,” she said, looking him straight in the eye. “You’re quite the nibby-nose!”
“Just like to know who’s pouring my beer,” he said with a smirk.
“Are you going to look at me all night like you want to eat me alive?”
Nate’s hands shot out to grasp her wrist in such a quick fashion that Ciara looked stunned. Being a panther shifter made him more agile than most normal men. His quickness had saved his life on more than one occasion, but it also benefitted him in situations like this one where he wanted to make a point and catch someone off guard.  The feel of her skin against his was more than he could take, and the growl that he had been trying to stifle escaped.
“I am going to eat you alive,” he whispered, tightening his grip on her wrists. Her blue eyes widened. Though there was a hint of fear in her eyes, he also saw the desire, and that made him continue. “I’m going to bury my tongue in that sweet little pussy of yours until you come all over my face. I can’t wait to taste you.” She inhaled sharply at his words.

Publisher: Evernight Publishing

Anthology Title: Alpha’s Claim: Manlove Edition

Strength. Power. Domination.
The shifters in our Alpha's Claim: Manlove Edition anthology have one thing in common—they won't take “no” for an answer. Whether they lead packs of their own, or whether they walk a solitary path, these alphas won't let anyone stop them from claiming their men.
Lose yourself in these ten sinfully delicious love stories. After all, who could deny an Alpha’s claim?

WAKING UP WOLF BLURB:

When a radioactive leak in the local water source turns the inhabitants of Adam Baker’s small town into shape shifting wolves, he manages to hold and survive alone--alone except for the wolves he hears in the distance. When he doesn’t immediately undergo “the change” into a wolf himself, he begins to believe he’s immune. After his dreams begin to include another wolf, he finds himself drawn to the howls outside his window and the pack’s alpha Grady Conway.

WAKING UP WOLF EXCERPT:

Adam watched him carefully. “You don’t even know me. Why would you invite me back with your family, your pack?”
Grady looked down. “What if I told you we needed you? That I needed you?”
Adam stared at him like he’d gone crazy.
“Me? Why would you need me?”
A true alpha needs a mate.” Grady raised his head, meeting Adam’s eyes, and for a moment he couldn’t look away.
“And you think I’m your mate?”
“I don’t think. I know. You’re my mate, always have been.”
Adam backed away, and he felt himself shake and pain shoot through his body as he fell to his knees. Naked and sprawled in the dirt he stared up at Grady, who closed his eyes and shifted, leaving himself bare as well.
Adam swallowed hard as he stared up at Grady in shock. This close he could see every single inch of the tanned and toned body of the man who commanded a pack. Muscled and imposing, he stared down at Adam, his blue eyed gaze heated.
Without another word, Grady took a step closer, sliding his hand over the top of Adam’s head possessively. He slowly wrapped his hand around Adam’s long dark dreads and pulled his head back, exposing his neck. Adam’s eyes slammed shut as he waited for Grady to change and wolf teeth to tear out his throat. Instead, when Grady’s human teeth sank into his shoulder he shuddered and cried out.
Pleasure/pain surged through Adam’s body as he jerked awake, his cock throbbing as he felt hot cum stripe his belly. His legs shook as he panted for breath, his bed sheets and body soaked with sweat.
His dreams had never been that vivid before, and when he shifted his body his muscles screamed in protest and he flopped back with a moan.
When he yanked back the blankets he stared.
His feet were dirty, caked in mud along with his hands. On his neck, he could feel Grady’s teeth marks.
He’d been marked by the alpha.
