reviewer affect you as a writer?
I started out as a reviewer so I hope I take some of that into my writing cave with me.
As a reader or reviewer we want to be engaged, intrigued and even surprised
with stories. We want three dimensional characters with flaws and depth. We
want vividly described worlds that fit the sub genre they are described as.
sex couples are the norm. I keep them engaged with romance and suspense. And I
like to surprise people by leading them in one direction, but choosing a
different path at the last minute. I also like to build on the suspense by
ending the stories with a cliff hanger that will leave you anxious and eagerly
awaiting the next installment, but not one so massive that it will piss people
off that they have to wait a while to see where it goes.
have my soul mates, Aiyan and Kaden… The warrior and The priest, Raven and
Tanis… The threesome that defy the normal definition of soul mates… The couple
that were born to be together, Cirian and Rian… The petite pixie and The bitch
on wheels, Amelia and Amaya. The list goes on and on. Early on, someone
referred to my story as ‘A gay Game of Thrones’. Now whether or not they meant
that as a compliment or not, I sure as hell took it as one, I mean it’s George
R R Martin! But it’s a valid description. I have a lot of characters.
part, they have a defined role to play in their relationship. In the bedroom,
the majority of the couples are a traditional top/bottom role. The only
coupling so far that is different is Aiyan and Kaden. They are equals in every
way. It defines not only them as individuals, but their relationship as well.
They were written as two men that very much wanted their partner to be their
equal in every way, so that had to bleed into their sex life in order for them
to make sense and be believable.
my stories. I knew I wanted to do something Dystopian where as it falls under
Sci-Fi, but not necessarily that genre. I wanted a world where society was
turned upside down, where as the norm we live today is not the norm our
relatives will live in the future. I’m sort of fascinated with global warming
so I added in that aspect to the story, but again, researching a plausible
outcome. I knew that if I didn’t represent some truth in the book that someone
along the way would tear me to shreds. Therefore I can know tell you seven of

behind them that fed that characters persona, names that I hope you will
remember. I’m part Irish and if I were to define my religious beliefs, it would
be Celtic, so that is ever present in the story. When I decided to write about
families from Greece and India, I researched those cultures as well. How they
dress, how they speak, traditions, marriage ceremonies, foods that pertain to
those parts of the world. I hope that all of my hard work and preparation shows
in the finished product, and that everyone that reads Opposites will be able to
see what I’m writing inside their mind.
