Cover Reveal: Ya Like That?

PUBLISHER: JMS Books
GENRE: BDSM • Contemporary • Erotic Romance • Fiction • Gay
LENGTH: 12,776 words

BLURB

Evan Foster is left with nothing after his father screwed up their family company. Evan's father ended up in jail, his mother in a mental institution, and they lost all their possession to the bank. Evan dropped out of college and he still has to pay for his mother's treatment. He has a job at a diner but it isn’t nearly enough.

Brian Donaghue is a millionaire with a multinational company but isn’t lucky in love. When he sees the picture Evan sends in with a resume, he’s immediately interested. But the way he ropes Evan into his company is far from conventional. Brian makes Evan an offer he can’t refuse.

Or can he?

EXCERPT

Evan’s heart constricted looking at the huge manor standing before him. It reminded him of his family’s former house although that wasn’t as big as this. He shook off the mental picture and strode to the security post, another thing different from his family’s home.

“Hi. I’m Evan Foster. I have an appointment with Mr. Donaghue.” The security guy looked him up and down, making him squirm.

“Can I have your driver’s license?”

Evan gave the man his driver’s license and got a visitor’s card in return.

“Thanks.” He turned toward the house.

“Wait. There’s a message for you.”

“Huh?” Evan took the envelope from the security guard’s hand and opened it. There was only one small piece of paper inside and he took it out.

Go into the house and come to the room at the end of the hall.

Evan frowned. It sounded like a line taken from a bad porn movie. Or perhaps Mr. Donaghue just liked to joke around.

Evan climbed up the short flight of stairs to the porch and reached out for the door knob.

“Hello?” His voice echoed in the large empty hall. Inside, it was dimly lit just like it was outside the house. Evan braced himself. He had permission to be there and instructions. He might as well do what he had to do.

Evan knew he had to get to the room at the end of the hall but he couldn’t help but feel intrigued and wanted to look around. Everything a mansion should have was here in this house: a vast welcoming area for guests, carpeted stairs spiraling up to the next level, and old portraits hung on the walls above the railing. Once he almost strayed, completely spell bound. He shook himself mentally and turned back to the hall.

After passing several rooms and doors, he got to the end of the corridor. He guessed it was the one on the left, for the one on the right was some feet before that. Evan tried the door. It was unlocked and dark inside. He felt around and found the switch. His breath hitched at the sight he was welcomed with. The room was bare, save for the thick red rugs on the floor and another piece of paper. Evan was written across it. He picked it up, turned it over, and read another message for him. Suddenly all of the air felt like it was being sucked out of his lungs. His sight blurred and his knees turned to jelly. He staggered until his back hit the wall, the pain throwing him back to awareness. He looked at the paper once more, hoping that it was just a figment of his twisted imagination. It wasn’t. The message still read the same.

Take off your shirt and shoes. Kneel on the floor in the middle of the room. Put your arms behind your head.

What was that supposed to mean? He signed a contract to be a personal assistant and not some ... sex slave or something. Or was that what they meant by personal assistant? Bile bubbled up in his throat. So it was for this reason that they paid him high, huh? A high-class whore? Evan wanted to run away, not having anything to do with them or the man named Brian Donaghue, whoever he was. He just wanted to forget he'd ever brushed with this ... this kind of stuff.

Excerpt:
"It's been too long." Dolly smiled at him across the table. "What has it been, two years?" She must have realized the last time they had seen each other happened to be the same day her brother had shipped out. Glancing down, as if suddenly aware she had brought up a touchy subject, she fidgeted. Lee hadn't wanted him to go.
Twenty-two months, two weeks, a handful of days, but who's counting—
"Something like that," Lee tried to smile for her but couldn't make it go to his eyes. Instead, he just settled for a half-crooked grin that he hoped she would read as sincere. "Are you in town long?"
"You want to get rid of me?" Dolly teased, placing her hand on his.
Looking down at her small pixie-like hands, Lee realized they were just smaller versions of Clint's hands. The nail beds were the same size and shape. Even her cuticles were identical. Clint's hands were probably calloused and rough from his time away. When Lee looked up at her face, all he could see were Clint's eyes. How didn't he know that they had the same eyes? The blue of Earth's oceans matched in those two small globes. A pang of emotion swept over him and knotted in his stomach. He couldn't identify what it was. Regret? Longing? Sorrow?
"What's wrong?" Her soft southern drawl that she would never be rid of seeped out of her words. The same drawl that flowed from Clint's tongue every time they video messaged.
Tears sprang to his eyes. Lee would never call himself an emotional man, but at that second in time, he missed Clint with body, heart, soul, mind—every bit of his being. It went beyond reason, as the only thing he longed for in the universe was a hug from his fair-haired officer.
"You miss him that much, don't you?" Dolly asked as though reading his mind.
Lee coughed and blinked furiously. "Excuse me?"
"Lee Louis Love, I've known you since you couldn't pronounce my last name correctly and called me Dolly Wafers instead of Waters. We went to first grade together. I can tell how much you miss him." She started playing with her fork, then added softly, "We all do."
"I..." Lee didn't know what to say. Dolly was one of his best friends growing up, but he had never truly discussed his relationships with her. Clint and his affair needed to remain a secret. "So, what brings you to the Moon? I was a little surprised to hear from you."
"Truthfully?" Dolly asked. The waitress returned with Dolly's Coke and a Moon brand beer that was fairly common around the dome.
"Of course."  Lee said.
"You."
A bit of beer went down the wrong pipe, and Lee started coughing. His face felt warm, as he hacked into his hand.
"Excuse me?" he croaked out between sputters.
"I know you are in love with Clint."

Excerpt:

There are no woods in Demoria, so our hunt is along the back of the city, in a massive canyon. Demorians do not ride, as the area is not very large to traverse, but they do use the uneven terrain to their advantage. We settle in behind a mossy boulder and look out over the expanse. Wild dogs prowl through the trenches; rabbits scamper along elevated knolls. “Demoria is not so bad when it’s behind me,” I say. The vast landscape is beautiful in the shifting pinks and purples of dawn. It felt the same way yesterday afternoon atop the lighthouse. “That is how most things are in life,” Seamus concedes. He places his gun on the ground and unpacks his bag. He reveals a box of tarts in ten different flavors. Damn. “Not fair,” I say, already stuffing my face with passion fruit tart. “I did my research.” We sit in pleasant, tart-filled silence for a while, fruit pastries winning over my taste buds. They are less recalcitrant than my stubborn heart. Sanara is right; Seamus is kind of cute. He has a boyish charm, especially for someone who has probably seen things I could never even imagine. “How many people have you killed?” I’m not known for my tact. “Too many to count,” he answers quickly, not ashamed. “Don't you ever think about who they were? Doesn't it bother you?” “I know each of their names. I know who they were, and I know who was left behind when I did my job.” He’s defiant. I don't really blame him. He is a Demorian; killing is what he does. “Still, I mean, just because someone tells you to kill someone...” “I was ready to get you this morning, with exactly the right kind of bow and arrows, and a box of tarts, because I did not sleep for more than a couple hours. As charming as you are, that was not because my heart was all a-flutter at seeing you. It was because a good night is four hours.” “So why do it?” “Because someone has to, and it was destined to be me.” “I don't believe in fate. We make our own destinies,” I argue. “It is easier to say that when you are not trained to be an assassin,” he counters. Silence settles back over us. I think about what he says. Would I be who I am if I’d been raised differently? Does being born somewhere or being of a certain blood dictate the person each of us becomes? I can’t picture a different me somewhere, destined to marry and doing it because it was the assigned path I would take. Although maybe he’s right. None of my choices have involved considering the fate of another human being. If he admits that he had any control over his own life, he admits that he made the choice to murder someone else. That would be unbearable, and I empathize with his conviction that some part of our lives is set out for us before we start. “I need to be back early. Tonight is a big deal.” “Ah yes, our betrothal debut.” His tone is mocking, but it’s not an angry mockery. “It doesn't bother you, does it? Marrying me?” “I’m lucky to be engaged to you. I understand why you don't feel the same.” He packs up the rest of the tarts and stands. Bending over, he offers his hand to assist me in getting up. I am on my feet quickly, but I don’t let go of his hand right away. “Seamus, it isn't you. Of the potential mates my parents have proposed, you are the best of them.” It’s the only thing I can provide him, but it’s true. Under different circumstances, he may have even been my own choice.

About the Author:

Sarah Daltry writes about the regular people who populate our lives. She's written works in various genres - romance, erotica, fantasy, horror. Genre isn't as important as telling a story about people and how their lives unfold. Sarah tends to focus on YA/NA characters but she's been known to shake it up. Most of her stories are about relationships - romantic, familial, friendly - because love and empathy are the foundation of life. It doesn't matter if the story is set in contemporary NY, historical Britain, or a fantasy world in the future - human beings are most interesting in the ways they interact with others. This is the principle behind all of Sarah's stories. Sarah has spent most of her life in school, from her BA and MA in English and writing to teaching both at the high school and college level. She also loves studying art history and really anything because learning is fun. When Sarah isn't writing, she tends to waste a lot of time checking the Internet for pictures of cats, shooting virtual zombies, and simply staring out the window. She has written several books, most notably Bitter Fruits, an urban fantasy in the Eden’s Fall series, Backward Compatible: A Geek Love Story, and the six book New Adult Flowering series, including Forget Me Not, Lily of the Valley, Blue Rose, Star of Bethlehem, Orange Blossom, and Ambrosia. Author bio
Me
I'm a thirty-six year old wife to my sweet husband Jason, and mother of one to the most adorable seven-year-old girl to ever walk, Maggie. I live with my little family on the outskirts of Greenville, South Carolina where we house two cats (Star Anise aka Annie and Asparagus aka Gus) and a dog, Jack. (the largest Yorkie ever!).
I have a serious addiction to anything Coach and would live on Starbucks if I could get away with it. I'm slightly enamored with Charlie Hunnam and Sons of Anarchy and am a self-proclaimed foodie. I'm an avid reader averaging around 300 novels a year and wish I had time to read more.
I currently work full-time in the Greenville area and fill my "extra" time (haha) with reading anything I can get my hands on and writing contemporary romance novels with a hint of erotica. This has been a dream of mine for years and I couldn't have done it without the support of my husband and BFF Tracy who both pushed me to keep going when I didn't have the confidence or the patience.

Cover Reveal: Will and Pleasure

Coming June 22, 2014

JMS Books

Blurb (unedited)

Unlike his brothers, Jake Welther preferred to stay with his mother when his parents got divorced. So he was surprised when he was called to attend the reading of the will upon his father's death. Jake never thought he’d get anything from the will. As it turns out, Jake's father left his four sons not the house or the money but a young man named Luke.

A male prostitute Luke thought things wouldn't go so bad until one unfortunate night an encounter with a client ended with him curled up in an alley filthy and caked with things he’d rather not think about. A man came to help him, but there was no way Luke could know that the man he knew later as Craig Welther, Sr. was worse than any of his clients.
