Mid Week Tease: A Home for Jesse

I'm so glad to join this week's Mid Week Tease with my new release, A Home for Jesse. It is available on the retailers this week and I'd love it if you try it out. :)

Oh God.

“Jesse?” Trey chokes.

At the sound of his name, Jesse jolts to a sitting position and drags himself back towards the wall behind him.

Trey winces at the sight of Jesse, the wounds and bruises. Both his eyes are swollen shut and there are dark bruises plastered all over his face, cuts on his forehead, some of which are still oozing blood—the same goes for his split lips. Jesse’s scrunching down, hands over his middle, and Trey can imagine what he will find there if he looked at it—more bruises probably, perhaps even some broken ribs? Trey kneels down beside Jesse, his headache completely forgotten.

“What the hell happened to you?” He tentatively puts his hand on Jesse’s shoulder. Jesse stills, shaking his head.

“Go. Just go. Please.”

Mid Week Tease: A Part of Me

I'm so behind on posting things. I'm staying home today for my mom is sick so let me try to have things posted.

First, the supposedly Mid Week Tease. :D

It's a blast from the past, my very short story published by Alfie Dog Fiction, A Part of Me.

In the silence, Zach suddenly heard the car rumble. It was soft and subtle but Zach heard it nonetheless.
“Did you hear that?” he asked, turning to Connor.
When Connor didn’t answer and turned pale instead, Zach knew something was wrong.
“Con, don’t you think we should stop for a while?”
“Y-yes. All right.”
Connor slowed the car down but then it began to vibrate harder, and Connor had to hold on to the steering wheel fast.
“Watch out!” Zach jumped and grabbed it, too.
“Let go, let go!” Connor cried out.
“Con…” Zach looked straight ahead. Dread filled him. The road was wet and slippery, and Connor seemed to begin to lose control.
“Zach, I can’t hold this anymore…” Connor’s voice shook. Zach didn’t care what Connor had told him earlier. He clutched at the steering wheel while Connor braked and pressed the pedal down.
“It’s not… it’s not working!”
“What?”
“The brake—it’s not working. Zach…”
“It’s okay. You’ll manage. We’re going to be fine.”
Right that time the car swerved sharply and before either of them could do anything, it spun around and turned upside down before crashing into a tree by the roadside. Zach screamed out Connor’s name and everything went dark.

Mid Week Tease: A Home for Jesse

Ooh, I'm a bit late for Mid Week Tease! I hope it's okay. Thank you, Sandra Bunino, for organizing the weekly hop. I can't wait to visit other bloggers. You should do, too! Please check out this list to go to other blogs!

For this week, I share with you an excerpt from my upcoming release from JMS Books, A Home for Jesse, an m/m romance.

Trey gets out of his car and slowly closes the door behind him. Jason—who was he kidding? Those sleepy green eyes, curled lips—Trey has been aware of them since the first day he laid eyes on Jesse. Luckily, he has a habit of keeping track of the birthdays of everyone in the set. A little stretch when it comes to Jesse will not make anyone suspicious. So far he has found out: Jesse’s name, of course, his birthday, where he comes from, what he likes (chocolate and strawberry), and the fact that he’s too pretty to be an extra
Trey sighs and tosses the car keys on the kitchen table. He can lie and tell himself that he saw something in Jesse’s eyes when he greeted him just now. Jesse always seems serious and reserved and only changes when he is immersed in his role, whether he’s playing a clerk in Farmer’s Market or a customer in the diner. Trey can tell when Jesse’s acting—not that he always pays attention to the man. Oh no, not at all. It’s Jesse, really, who keeps stealing glances at him, but then how would he know if he didn’t—
Jesus.
Trey slides down the wall, throwing his head back, letting it go thud. His hand roams over his chest and his eyes squeeze shut.
Oh, Jesse,” he moans. “Jess…” He rolls the name on his tongue, liking the feel of it. “Jesse. Jess. Jessie.”
His hand travels south and soon it finds the heart of his pleasure. Trey’s eyes roll up, he whimpers behind clamped lips—his hand gets more and more frantic, when suddenly…

Hope you like it! ♥

Mid Week Tease: A Boyfriend for Christmas

Before I post my teaser this week, I want to congratulate Jessica Jayne for winning a copy of my story, What Lies Beneath, from last week's Mid Week Tease. Thank you for stopping by, Jessica! :D

I will have a Valentine Day release this week but for now I would like to share a Christmas story of mine. It was out in November last year but just uploaded to All Romance Ebooks several days ago. What makes me totally excited is that tonight, A Boyfriend for Christmas became the No. 1 Bestselling Romance in Gay category. I can't thank everyone who has downloaded it enough! So here is a little from the story.

Derek really shouldn’t be surprised: Oliver shrank back at the sound of Derek’s voice, his eyes snapped open, wild, searching, until they finally located the gun Derek secured and left on the table earlier. Derek sighed dejectedly.

“You don't need that. I told you I wouldn't hurt you and I won't.”

Oliver might not trust him immediately at Derek’s reassurance, but he did take his eyes off Derek to check his surroundings, noting the steamy drink on the table and the lit fireplace that filled the room with cozy warmth. When Oliver's gaze was back at him again, Derek smiled. That gaze was still hard and cold, though, and that Derek swore he would remedy in no time.

I hope you like it. :) And here is the link to the story on ARe site: https://www.allromanceebooks.com/product-aboyfriendforchristmas-1417108-145.html

Mid Week Tease: Misunderstandings

Thank you so much, Sandra Bunino, for hosting this event every week!

Welcome to my Mid Week Tease, and this week I'm going to share with you an excerpt from my newest release, Misunderstandings, from JMS Books. It's a M/M contemporary romance, and here is the blurb:

Being insecure isn’t good for Parker Williams’ image as an indie movie actor, but he can’t help it. He seems to forget that he snatched an Oscar from the one hit movie he made, and he keeps comparing himself with the success of his boyfriend Declan, who is a blockbuster star. Things get worse when Parker sees how close Declan is to his sexy costar, Ryan Dexter.

Parker thinks he’s no match for Ryan and leaves without confronting Declan. When he disappears, a worried Declan tries to contact him without result. Then he finds Parker’s cell phone, left behind at the house, and Declan doesn’t know what to do. Should he let Parker go and turn to Ryan for comfort? Is his relationship with Ryan only onscreen, or is there something more between the two leading men? Or is Parker really the star of Declan's heart?

Excerpt:

Parker carefully positioned the box in the middle of the bed as if it were some kind of a precious treasure. Stepping back, tipping his head sideways, he gazed contemplatively at the box.

He had no clue as to what had made him think of buying this box of chocolates. At that moment Parker thought it would be a great idea to send it to Declan.

But now he wasn't so certain anymore.

What would be the meaning of the gift? How would Declan feel, receiving this? What would he think when he had it in his hands?

Sitting down on the bed, gaze on the deluxe pack with images of luscious-looking chocolates on it, Parker was bickering with himself. He wasn’t the one who should apologize (that was the message behind this gift, wasn’t it?). Declan was the one who cheated. Thus, he had to make the first move.

Yet, his heart reminded Parker that he’d turned away from Declan without giving him a chance to talk. Ryan coming to Declan’s house that night might not have meant anything. Parker shouldn’t not have fretted about the zealous way Ryan greeted Declan. Ryan had always been like that, hadn’t he?

The point wasn't who should ask for an apology. He who humbles himself before others, would emerge a noble man, was that not what the proverb said?

Parker drew out a blank card and a pen he'd bought from the hotel's souvenir shop. All right, so he would send the chocolates after all. The only question remaining was what he should write in the card. What did he actually want to say to Declan?

Would that be ...

I miss you. No. What if Declan never even thought twice about Parker’s leaving and had forgotten that he existed?

How about ...

I trust you.

No ... Parker just couldn’t write it. There were so many questions he wanted Declan to answer. It saddened Parker, though, to think that he couldn’t give his absolute trust to his lover.

I’m sorry.

Parker still thought he might’ve made a mistake leaving Declan like that. But -- he wasn’t the one cheating. He could never cheat on his boyfriend. He loved Declan too much. So ...

I love you. Yes. Parker was simply expressing his feelings and Declan was under no obligation to love him back. But would that statement sound like a pathetic plea?

Parker sighed dejectedly. Perhaps he should simply abandon this idea altogether. If only Declan would call him. Had Declan really thought things settled between them?

Mid Week Tease

Welcome to this Wednesday's Mid Week Tease. Thank you so much Sandra Bunino for hosting it.

My excerpt this time comes from my upcoming release, A Single Black Rose, which will be out from JMS Books on Sunday, November 17, 2013. It is my longest story so far, a novella of 16K. I was so happy when JMS accepted it. I still am.

Here is the excerpt. Hope you like it!

Gritting his teeth, Nate hisses under his breath. He is standing in front of a cop, giving his statement on what has just happened. Not that there's much to say. His mind keeps replaying that scene when Sean turned to him, his face ashen, and Nate wishes with all his heart that he was the one who had opened the door, the one who found the flowers instead of Sean, sparing him the shock of seeing the seemingly innocuous pink bouquet with its single black rose.

Nate is angry with himself, feeling like a failure even though he knows what happened wasn't his fault. There was no way he could have predicted that the pervert was going to put the flowers inside their SUV. He runs his fingers through his hair, ends his statement, and turns to go to Sean who is sitting slumped on the pavement with Osborn by his side. Sean is staring ahead of him, his face expressionless, his hands clenched tightly into fists. Osborn is talking to him but Sean seems to not be aware of him, or of anyone else around him for that matter.

“Excuse me, Mr. Matthews.”

A man stops in front of Nate, a reporter, judging by the tape recorder he holds in his hand, and Nate feels his temper rising. This is so not the time for an interview and how in the world did the media get to hear of this so quickly anyway? Fucking reporters.

“Yeah?” Nate asks impatiently.

“Scott, Eugene Scott from The Vancouver Daily." The man is tall, almost as tall as him, and Nate rarely meets someone who is the same height as him here in Vancouver. "Are these the first flowers Sean got from the stalker?"

“We don’t know if he’s stalking Sean or not.”

“But it’s obvious that he is, right?”

Nate frowns, looking at the reporter more closely, "No, it is not obvious that he, or she, is stalking Sean."

“Oh, it’s just -- but back to my question --”

“No, they’re not,” Nate cuts him short. He really wants to get this over with without being downright rude.

“Huh?”

“These are not the first flowers.”

Scott nods. “Any weird thing?” he asks.

“What do you mean?”

“You know, if there's something strange with the flowers or --”

“They’re just flowers, okay? Look. I’m tired and I really don’t have anything more to say. If you'll excuse me." Nate walks past Scott, going toward Sean who is still sitting at the same spot, alone. Nate glances over at Osborn who is now with the police, presumably giving his statements to them.

"Sean," he says softly as he sits beside Sean on the pavement. He puts his hand on Sean's knee, stilling it.

“Nate --” There's a tremor in Sean's voice.

Nate turns his head toward Sean who is looking even more agitated than before.

"Hey, man.” He puts his arm around Sean's shoulders, pulling him close, kissing him on the temple. He can feel Sean shaking. "I've got you."

“They found a picture,” Sean says abruptly. "Inside the flowers. The police showed it to me."

“What picture?” The police didn't say anything to him about that. Nate's stomach sinks. Sending flowers is one thing but pictures? Of Sean?

"It's one of me. Sleeping. Inside the house." Sean's voice is bordering on the hysterical now. "Whoever it is must have used a long-lens camera or something. How could they get through the gate, Nate?"

"Ssh, baby.” Nate tries to put as much reassurance as he can in his voice. Someone has to remain calm even though Nate is feeling anything but. He puts both his arms around Sean, can feel him trembling, and holds him even tighter. "Breathe with me, c'mon."

Sean stills and takes a deep breath. “Can we go home now? Have the police finished with us?"

"Yeah. Yeah, I think we can go home now." Nate stands up and holds out a hand to pull Sean up. They hold each other tight for a moment longer, both of them unaware of a pair of eyes watching them from a distance.

Mid Week Tease

It's a bit late for me because I didn't realize this is already Wednesday, the day for our Mid Week Tease! :) Thank you, Sandra Bunino, for arranging this weekly sharing event. I really enjoy it!

This week I'd like to share with you a bit from my short story that will be out on October 12 from Bitten Press. I just can give you such an itty bitty part because the story itself is very short. :D So here we go!

“Hey, I’m sorry, man…”
“And you said you’d call the next day but you didn’t.”
“Oh, were you expecting that? Sorry to disappoint you.”
“Shut up. I’m just so stupid. Get out of my life, okay?”
“Hey, wait. Please, I didn’t mean that. I’m so grateful you want to talk to me.”
“I don’t want to talk to you.”
“Yeah, I know. I mean, thanks for giving me the chance to talk to you. By the way, Ashley…”
“Listen. You sound like a good kid. Why don’t you tell me your name and end all this weirdness?”
“And then we can meet?”
“We’ll see about that.”
“Don’t you want to see me?”

''Is that salsa?''

Alec's head shot up from its position lying on a pillow at the foot of the bed. ''Aw, shit,'' he muttered and this time buried his head under the pillow. Ethan was watching him dancing in kimono. Again.

''Cha-cha-cha. Cha-cha-cha. Oh, was that Cha Cha?'' Ethan's eyes were stuck to the flat, wide-screened TV. Alec almost wished those eyes would pop out now. ''I can't see your feet, Alec. Were you barefooted?''

Alec snorted. What difference would it make if he were barefooted? Ethan's attention was focused on something else anyway, wasn't it?

Mid Week Tease

A voice in my head told me that my first published short story, Just a Little Unwell, is a bit jealous because it has never been featured in the Mid Week Tease post. :) So here we go. The following excerpt is taken from my beloved story.

Welcome to my post, everyone. Thank you for coming by. And for this post, one lucky commented will get a copy of Just a Little Unwell that I will announce next week.

"That's awesome." Patrick rushes to his TV and VCR set and plays Cat Ballou, his absolute favorite movie. He searches for his favorite part where they dance at the party in the barn then turns to Damien.
"Can you dance? We should dance."
Damien shakes his head and hands, and he looks so panicked that Patrick laughs out loud.
"C'mon, Damien. It'll be fun."
"No, Patrick. You go ahead and dance."
Patrick ignores him and takes his hand. "It's not that hard."
Damien clearly looks uneasy, but he gets up and makes an attempt to haltingly follow Patrick's steps.
"Follow the music," Patrick says, laughing as Damien once more steps on his foot.
"I'm trying, I'm trying." Damien's laughing too.
Patrick stops abruptly, causing Damien to bump into his chest.
"What's wrong?" Damien asks.

Mid Week Tease

I'm so happy to join Mid Week Tease again. This time I'd like to share with you an excerpt from my short story that will be out on Smashwords on September 14, 2013. I hope you like it!

Time flew by as Damien indulged himself in his daydream. It gave him inspiration—that little bit of edge that made people gasp when they first saw his work. He was done now. The first painting of Julien was complete. The boy hung beautifully from the sky, like an angel with white clouds around him and crimson blood covering his body; a perfect angel, being punished by the invisible hands of the gods, about to receive their last, dispassionate verdict—with complete and exquisite submission.

Damien put down his brushes and stepped back, catching his breath as the full impact of the painting hit him.

It was his masterpiece.

“You should remember, son. There is nothing more important than a brilliant painting. They won’t look at you or your work twice if it’s less than dazzling. Do you understand?”

Damien only stared at his old man; his eyes widened, trembling, watery. He pressed an arm against his abdomen. It would bruise later, but he understood his papa had only done that for his own good, to make him a good painter. No, scratch that-the best artist. Better than his own father if that was possible.

He knew now he’d become one.
